Cambridge North America Business Network (CNABN)
Connecting Cambridge to the North American Business Community
The Cambridge North America Business Network (CNABN) is a student and alumni-led initiative that fosters meaningful dialogue, collaboration, and connections between the University of Cambridge and the dynamic business ecosystem of North America.
Based at Cambridge Judge Business School (CJBS), CNABN aims to bridge academic insights and industry practice in the areas of entrepreneurship, innovation, and investment across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Our mission is to strengthen ties between Cambridge and North American business leaders to fuel private sector–led innovation, expand opportunities for students and alumni, and support sustainable economic growth across the continent.
What We Do
At the heart of CNABN’s mission is the organization of high-impact events and networking opportunities:
- Flagship In-Person Gatherings
Teaming up with the CJBS Alumni Relationship team, CNABN co-hosts two major in-person events each year in rotating cities across North America—including New York City, Toronto, Vancouver, Houston, San Francisco, and Mexico City and other major metropolitans in the region. These gatherings occur in March/April and September/October, featuring business leaders, policy experts, investors, and Cambridge faculty.
Our success is made possible by the generous support of alumni sponsors and volunteers, whose participation is vital in sourcing speakers, venues, and strategic partners. - Ongoing Hybrid Panels & Webinars
In addition to in-person events, we may occasionally hold hybrid programming—currently centered in New York City—that connects North America–based alumni with CJBS faculty and global panelists.
See our 2024 inaugural hybrid panel post for highlights and recordings.
Our Goals
It’s our commitment to:
- Serving as a regional hosting partner for Cambridge-related business and entrepreneurship events across North America.
- Supporting the entrepreneurial and career growth of Cambridge alumni and students active in the North American region.
- Connecting Cambridge’s extensive network—students, alumni, researchers, and industry partners—with North American business opportunities.
- Supporting mentorship among alumni and students by creating opportunities to offer guidance, share career insights, and support the next generation through one-on-one or group mentoring initiatives.
Governance and Leadership
NABN was re-established post-pandemic following the success of the New York Business Trek initiated by EMBA alumni and students. It grew from an idea of a “North America business hub” into a formally recognized collaboration between CJBS, the North America-focused Student Interest Group (SIG), and the North American regional alumni groups.
Leadership Structure
- Advisory Committee
Our Advisory Committee acts as a guardian of continuity and strategic alignment, similar to a board of directors in nonprofit governance. Members ensure long-term vision, uphold institutional values, and offer veto power on major decisions. Current advisory members include:
- Brooke Bornick, Houston CamEntrepreneur / Alumni Council
- Charlotte Liddell, Cambridge CJBS Alumni Relations
- Mora Ambrey, New York NYC Alumni Group Leader
- Sunny Li, New York NYC Alumni Group / North America Trek
- Executive Board
The Executive Board oversees day-to-day operations and rotates every two years, in alignment with changes to the event host cities. It comprises:
- One representative from the Advisory Committee
- One representative from the Student SIG
- One representative from the Regional Alumni Group Leadership or active volunteer of the Host City of the current year
- CNABN Student SIG
The CNABN Student Interest Group (SIG) based at CJBS serves as a leadership pipeline, fostering student involvement in planning, outreach, and event execution. SIG leadership members often transition into alumni leadership roles, ensuring continuity and fresh perspectives.
